Completely unique
Thersa matsuura must have the most soothing voice in the world. On top of that, the podcast is so thoughtfully and lovingly curated, you just can’t wait for the next one to come out. Everything that comes out of her mouth is endlessly fascinating, and many of my friends from Berkeley love writing down the interesting Japanese terms and monster names to use for titles in future music projects. The writing is absolutely superb, and honestly it wouldn’t even have to be to get these 5 stars, because I could listen to her read the Japanese phone book. I wish I could give this podcast 10 stars. I actually stopped buying earl grey lattes all together so that I could give her 15 dollars a month on Patreon so she can make more stuff, and I haven’t regretted it once. Don’t sleep on this sleepy, creepy, wonderful show!

Not only is Thersa fantastic at delivering scary or creepy stories, I love the ambient sounds in the background which changes often. My favorite podcast without a doubt. You’ll disappear from the world for the duration of her episodes.

Don’t pass this pod by! Thersa’s stories are just wonderful. The perfect palate cleanser between true crime podcasts. Gorgeously researched, written and voiced. So many cool things to learn and ponder!

Thanks to this podcast I now know that Higurashi are my favourite-sounding cicada. The Kuchisake-onna episode is my favourite. It was very spooky.
