“Another quality show from Afterbuzz. I really liked the hosts and they seemed really into the pilot which made it fun to listen too. I look forward to listening as the season goes on.
I have read the book. I won't spoil much but let me say it's long, and at times it can be tedious and at least 100 people to keep track of. I sure hope the TV show ends better but as metnioned, that's a Stephen King thing which is why I hadn't read a King novel in over a decade. He just can't write good endings.
The book does answer some of your questions but one they do not, is why you get shocked the first time you touch the dome but not when you touch it after. I didn't even realize that it wasn't answered until the hosts mentioned being curious about it.
The lesbian couple is not in the book though they are the same names as other characters.
The book is also incredibly violent, especially towards women so be warned about that. I was glad that this was on CBS and not Showtime because hopefully they will tone that down.
The character of Barbie is much more of a nice guy from the beginning in the book so it was a bit of shock how they started the show with him being questionable but I am intrigued with what he is up to. I'm trying to step back and not compare too much of the book with the show because there are so many glaring differences already. All in all I thought it was a great pilot and will tune in again and listen to afterbuzz as well!
