anti-Black much?
Conversation with Kimberlé Crenshaw was great until the conversation got to hbcus. Suggesting hbcus don't have their own powerful network (singular "network" as in all hbcu folks look out for other hbcu folks regardless of institution) is an afront to the legacy of these schools past and present. We don't get to Harvard law school without there being hbcus paving the way for a more equitable society. Yes Harvard has a powerful network as do other elite white schools but the tokenization of the few and far between black alums is the cost of admission to the club. Power and access to sacred white spaces is a very specific value set. All Black people don't desire that experience. The answer to integrating schools wasn't bussing Black kids into the suburbs. I got the sense the speakers believe abandoning hbcus for white schools was the answer to the inequity that exists in resources and the intellectual dishonesty is honestly disappointing. The answer has always been extending resources in a truly equitable way. This has never been done but it doesn't mean it can't. Very disappointed by this episode. - A Black professor and believer in CRTRead full review »
