Jump the gun episode
Was great. I love that the guys ask relevant questions at pertinent times. My question is though, don’t the organisers of meets keep records of the racers reaction times? Which would be hundreds of thousands of samples. Wouldn’t that be the best data, given the variables of the would all be represented and if you can see that xx% start within the .1s but there’s only x% that occurs .1s PRIOR to the gun, couldn’t that equate to ‘guessing’. Then you’d have data of the fastest reaction times. But why do we even need this rule? Surely ’guessing’ doesn’t often get that close? Should we be better studying athletes ability TO guess the gun?

This podcast reminds me of old radiolab, at times maybe a little too much with the bewildered, rhetorical questions followed by a sound bite. But so far it seems like an interesting premise.
