Captivating, Moving, Funny & Inspiring
One could run out of adjectives and superlatives to describe these interviews. James O’Brien has a knack for digging deeper than other journalists choose to dig, but never do the interviewees appear phased or uncomfortable by his line of questioning. This is a credit to both parties as it’s so refreshing to hear people speaking so openly and honestly about their experiences regarding various social issues. It is reassuring knowing that no matter how successful people are and how confident they may appear to their fans (or critics), that they too have their demons or self-imposed limitations. We often forget that these celebrities or public figures are human too and therefore suffer just as much, often more, than what us regular folk do, which is both comforting and inspiring. Finally, there is almost always something to laugh at. No matter what these people have been through, they still seem to find a way to look back and laugh and James O’Brien seems genuinely happy to be in their company going on this journey with them. It would be intriguing to see how James would navigate through one of these interviews if his guest was somebody who opposed his views, however given some of the people he has to entertain on his radio phone in show on LBC, it is quite a relief that those opinions and voices are swept under the rug for an hour or so on this podcast. Keep up the great work James, one day I want your job!!!! Watch this space . . .
