🥴
Hi, new listened here. I stumbled across this podcast and listened to a few episodes. I really enjoyed both the shame of failure episode and the shame of growing up low-income almost brought me to tears with familiar feelings, but the shame of sex work episode gave MAJOR “Belle-Thorne” vibes in the worst way possible. Sex work is one of the oldest profession and also a very marginalized community, so to bring in a white presenting woman as an expert in a field where she is very green definitely missed the mark. Not only did she kink shame her “weird/gross” client, but she acted as though she had found some deep enlightenment and rebranded sex work by acknowledging that it’s more than physical, it’s mental. It was very off putting. I’m all for the umshaming of sex work and dominatrix work, one of the my favorite podcasts is hosted by a dom, but I believe this episode missed the mark and misrepresented the community.

More reviews of Unshaming
So many people have judgements and biases that they don’t even realize or acknowledge. But, stories expose those biases. And Jordan brings us those stories in a way that both holds by interest and calms me. I will definitely be looking forward to listening to each of his podcasts!

Bad
I want to like it, but the hosts are annoying and most of the episodes are boring.

I’m so happy this podcast exists. Shame is something so hidden at times deep within. Listening to the episode about being medicated for mental health was a monumental moment in my own journey. Thank you!
