“I listened to an episode about borderline personality disorder and sadly this episode more shames people with this disorder rather then unshames. First, it contains many misinformation, e.g. that trauma is needed to develop this disorder (not true) or that it can never be ‘cured’. Maybe also because it lacks discussion about effective treatment e.g. dbt and cbt therapy or medication. Studies show that people diagnosed with bpd often show no symptoms after 10 years of diagnosis (if they undergo therapy like dbt). BPD is a spectrum and one can have an impression that experiences of the guest are same as anyone with bpd. Folks diagnosed with bpd can feel actually hopeless after listening to this. As a person diagnosed with bpd 13 years ago, now I only show 1 of the 9 criteria (still feel strong emotions from time to time, but manage to control them). Cbd can help, but therapies like dbt are actually shown to be effective. In general the experiences of the guests can be valid, but the podcast lacks professional reference, based on knowledge and medical literature.”
