Enjoyable and thoughtful analysis, however they can get a bit cringe-ey when they assume all their listeners agree with their lefty politics.

Amy is a horrible man hating sexist. She constantly talks over Paul and complains.

QT is obviously a great film maker, but Christ on a cracker he’s obnoxious. I hate that he kept interrupting Amy and explaining why she was wrong. I hate that he have himself credit for movies split into two parts. I hate that he kept screaming into the microphone with not a single thought of...Read full review »

Love the podcast but I will not be listening to Quentin Tarantino’s. He’s so annoying. He’s completely in love with himself and can’t wait to talk (or shriek) again. And anytime Amy said a word it was like he had to school her in literally anything/everything. The most obnoxious episode ever,...Read full review »

Great show. The Tarantino episode is unlistenable. Dude is screaming!

Paul is great but Amy can’t help herself from throwing in some woke comment about every single movie

Listened to an “analysis” of Lawrence of Arabia, David Lean’s film. I was struck by two things. The knowledge of the real history at the time of T E Lawrence was simply abysmal and the knowledge of the man was similarly appalling. Secondly, the analysis of reality through the psychological lens...Read full review »

Good grief, how did THIS get made. Maybe add someone that can be critical without also pointing out a ton of stupid crap that doesn't even matter. It's not particularly funny, or witty, or worth taking so much time to discuss. Paul, why are you on this show? Your straight take on film is...Read full review »

Such a good show, insightful conversations and reviews of the films, and funny hosts. (Also please review the 2004 film “Hotel Rwanda”)

Here is an example of any episode of this podcast “Like….like like like. LIKE like. Like like like like. Like like”. For 60 minutes. All spoken with vocal fry. The only part of the podcast where you’ll hear any other word is the ads.

Really want to like this pod but often find it exhausting and dragged out by a consistent attitude of negativity/dislike of the films they watch. Every episode, I’m just waiting for the moment Amy shares her obscure critiques. Also, Amy… do you like/enjoy any of the movies you and Paul review? If...Read full review »

This is now the second podcast I have had to quit due to the incredibly annoying tone and cadence of Amy’s voice. It is so incredibly distracting. I briefly scrolled the other reviews here and it seems that so many others agree. Why aren’t they making a change? Paul, love you… stick to HDTGM...Read full review »

Love this pair and their appreciation of movies. I’ve watched so many more, and more varieties of genres, just because they discussed them in a way that whetted my appetite. I enjoy movies more thanks to Amy & Paul. You guys are wonderful.

Been a fan since episode 1. Love when Paul and Amy bring their own interpretations and surprise the other with it, making the conversation about the film(s) more than that of being right or wrong, or it’s good or bad. And as always, great to discover new films to see.
War-mariachi via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/16/22
Some of these reviews are pathetic. Amy is an articulate and original voice always giving fresh perspective on movies and the movie business. I dare say that no one would get annoyed at listening to her speak unless they are annoyed that the words are being said by a woman. So, if you find...Read full review »

I love your thoughtful, intelligent analyses. These bad comments are from idiots. Sorry they didn’t review any steven seagull movies and that you had to listen to a smart woman review amazing movies. Keep doing what doing the good work, Amy & Paul, I love your show.

ed to think Amy was terrible - eliminate “non-woke” “non-PC” films by male directors - and she still stinks. Paul it turns out us just a weakling who caves
Millie Rock. via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 05/25/22
This features two engaging hosts who appear knowledgeable. However, should you listen to an episode where you know a lot about the film under discussion, you’ll likely come away disappointed. The pair often appear in competition to out-do the other in imposing their own cultural references on the...Read full review »

Amy’s view on Goodfellas threw me off this podcast... listen for yourself. Wet blanket. I understand everyone’s tastes are different, but kinda difficult to keep listening to reviews from her. Reading the comments, I see quite a few people think similarly.

Paul Sheer’s face is what you see when you look up the word cuckold. Still not the worst part of the podcast. That distinction would have to go to “film critic” Amy Nicholson whose contribution to the show could be done using a vocal fry dummy with a pull string repeating phrases misogyny, male...Read full review »

Both have good opinions but every episode has at lease 20 minutes of Amy and Paul arguing about so dumb thing they cant agree on and it takes up the entire episode
oldnonames via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/25/22
I dare anyone to attempt counting how many times Paul says “like”. Amy is just as bad. STOP SAYING “LIKE”!! They’re educated adults but you’d never know.

This show would be a lot better if Paul would stop interrupting and talking over Amy. She’s just a smart as you, Paul. Perhaps smarter.

You’ll love this show. Amy brings the critic’s perspective and her fun wit. Paul brings the actor’s perspective and his HDTGM spin on things. I look forward to listening every week.

Listen to this podcast if you want to feel good about your ability to analyze a film. Amy has the most nonsensical opinions on movies that are often unsupported by facts. Her takes are baffling. I often find Amy’s critiques confusing. I don’t know if she is just trying to be contrarian, but some of her takes are very strange. There’s some good things and some not so good things about this podcast. On the positive side: I generally like Paul’s takes on a movie. And when Amy sticks to what is actually happening in the movie I generally enjoy her takes as well. The two hosts seem to have good chemistry and I don’t agree...Read full review »

It would probably be ok if not for Scheer who obviously doesn’t like films that much but does love the sound of his own droning, fatuous voice. The other presenter is a model of patience, always correcting Scheer on facts, interpretation and staying relevant and vaguely interesting.

The part of me that wishes I’d gone to film school is totally satiated by this pod. I could listen to Amy and Paul talk about any movie!

I used to read Roger Ebert every day because every review had an interesting take. Didn’t much matter about the film. If I’m really serious about it, Amy and Paul are the closest thing I can find to that kind of film discussion which is at once serious and light. I’ve rewatched dozens of films...Read full review »

I was so excited to find this podcast, especially one with a woman who is an expert in her field as part of the on air team. And I was extremely disappointed that she is constantly shouted down by a man with his rando opinions. He doesn’t even listen to her. It’s ridiculous. Do better!

I’ve been listening since the beginning, but recently I’ve noticed Paul starting to interrupt more and more and I wish he would just take a beat to listen instead of quickly coming back with a counterpoint that at least comes off like it’s half a thought. All my favourite movies. Love how they’re examined and broken down. I’m having a hard time listening though, because of the constant interrupting by Amy. I like her voice. Just wish she would wait for Paul to finish a thought.
