Freelance Content Marketer
My name is Pierce Smith, and I’m guilty of Spam. I didn’t do it because I wanted to. I did it because my boss asked me to. But that doesn’t absolve me of the crime. I wasn’t strong where I needed to be. I put my job before my audience. I delivered puff blogs instead of actual insight. And used psychology to trick/compel folks to convert. Jay’s movement is the natural extension of the practice of inbound marketing. As companies move to adopt content creation as a means to demand generation, they have over-saturated the market with fluff pieces that fill inboxes but don’t deliver any value. Jay is taking a stand, and asking us to do better by our audiences and by ourselves. As professional content creators, we need to hold our profession accountable to higher standards. This podcast, and Sorry for Marketing, provide a rally point for content creators to do better work. To focus on creativity and value over quantity and vanity metrics. If you’re serious about inbound marketing - if you’re serious about being a good marketer - listen to this podcast. Listen to Jay. You audience will thank you, and success will follow.
