....but the characters need to be slapped on the regular...OMG. The guy that works at the boarding house is irritating AF, and the main characters mother? Wow, she would test the patience of our Savior himself. I think it has potential, but there needs to be more plot development, more story details. Right now, the story seems very topical and doesn't really seem to do much. From the title, I'm not sure where in the story there is any "midwestern Gothic"....maybe season 2 (if there will be one) will be better?Read full review »

Lilly is way too condescending and rude. So is Abby. As soon as Lily arrived everyone greeted her in a friendly manner and she talked to them like they were idiots. Wow. How can a show make me so uncomfortable, then elated, then anxious, then comfortably homey in such a short time? Three episodes into this piece of midwestern gothic suspense, seasoned with social justice awareness and mission, and I’m hooked.
