It is mediocre at best

Feeling like there is NO justice for Flo. Keep checking for updates, new episodes, answers for all the silence. Not sure why I pay for a Tenderfoot+ subscription at all! Hurt feelers

All the woke talking points are there. Super annoying. Lots snyde comments. I’m not trying to listen to woke commentary - there’s plenty of that on - you guessed it - woke commentary podcasts. I’m looking for true crime on a true crime podcast.

Love every season. Thanks for bringing these issues to light. Everyone making the podcast seems top notch. Season 2 episode 9- I just have to say the interview with Catfish was very interesting. I’ve never heard a more manipulative controlling person in an interview. It was very calculated, and...Read full review »

The clip of Payne in discussion with the female police administrator at the door was appalling. Her light treatment and indifference to this poor missing man is absolutely disgusting, while his mother and sister suffer without answers. What a disgusting police department. Good work, kudos to...Read full review »

The stories are always interesting but each episode spends the first 5+ minutes talking about the previous episode and then the last 5+ minutes teasing the next episode. Add in the ads and you really only get 15-20 min of any new content each episode. Gets very old.

Are we getting new episodes about Florence? Is this season over? Why did I pay to be a Tenderfoot member — asking for a friend. ☹️

I want to hear next to nothing about Payne, how he’s feeling, what he’s thinking, etc. and more about the investigation. Please stop making this about you and focus on the victim.

I’m a huge fan of Up and Vanished and Payne and his team. Was an original season 1 fan listening in real time… Season 4 felt different. So melodramatic and so much about Payne. Particularly episode 5. It felt cheap and was what I don’t like about other true crime podcasts- when it becomes all...Read full review »

I love Payne-always excited for new seasons, but I feel like they always end without a resolution. Nothing ever mentioned again. What happened to Krystal and Ashley? Even if you weren’t able to continue the investigation or it became cold or dangerous, tell us something. We become engrossed and...Read full review »

I have stopped listening to most true crime podcasts it’s gotten to be too much… but paynes is a keeper. I love the fact that you focus on one person/case per season. The deep dive is amazing. I really like that I feel we’re having a convo about it… what you’re doing is admirable. Brave too....Read full review »

Why am I getting commercials as a Tenderfoot + member? Ugh
susannj via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/13/24
Tenderfoot and particularly Payne’s shows have become all about Payne. Season one was great but c’mon we don’t need episodes all about Paynes journalistic processes. They’re not that good anymore. Time to step back, gain some humility and stop boasting. Perhaps have some more facts in there too.
bridgetmaustralia via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/13/24
Season 4 has been different. It started off slow and didn't start to pick up on evidence until episodes 6-8. Even then, there is a lot of here say. There's been a lot of the case evidence episodes which feel like fillers to cover time. I'd like to hear from locals on the case and from...Read full review »

I was looking for a true crime/murder investigation/missing persons podcast to listen to as I go about my day… found it! I am a ‘Dateline’ fanatic and was looking for something similar, but not the same… if that makes sense. ‘Up & Vanished’ (all 4 seasons) is a GREAT podcast. I’m actually...Read full review »

I listened to this show in reverse order, and am glad I did. Obviously the production value improved, but the main difference is in Payne’s role and storytelling. There were definitely some cringe elements in season 1, but 3&4 showed a real depth of empathy and advocacy for the MMIWG crimes...Read full review »

The episodes start with ads, end with ads, and are abruptly interrupted with ads. I’m not motivated to time it but probably 30-40% of the content is advertising. Payne is so full of himself after season 1 and he’s really rude to anyone he deals with in law enforcement. These episodes are overly long without going anywhere.
aaumueller via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/05/24
Episode 8 was torture. It’s like a fictional, farcical representation of the most incompetent and unprofessional police service- except it’s real life. No wonder people go missing and get murdered. Brutal.

Was hoping that Season 4 was building towards something since it had been so slow, then suddenly we are told there is nothing new until June. Hard to believe this crew thought they had anything close to enough material for an entire “season” Hoping things are better in June…not holding breath.
Lock Jaw Nick via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/04/24
Payne has lost the forest for the trees this season. Most of the podcast is spent building tension about how nervous he is to meet the suspect, the real victim is a complete by line in this story. You can’t give the Hollywood treatment to someone’s death and cast yourself in the lead. Come on
sadie dark via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 04/03/24
I have to say, Season 1 was great and set a high standard for this podcast, Season 2 was pretty good as well, but from. Season 3 and 4 are really well told and the recordings of people are mostly clear, and if not the podcaster reiterates what they said. Season 2 plays frustratingly long clips of incoherent phone calls that are painful to listen to.

I don’t understand why a podcast dedicated to helping the families of missing persons is so determined to engage in click bait. I feel like they should just do a fictional murder mystery series where the host can feel like a hero and leave real people with real stories alone.
cewy80 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/01/24
I think the host thought the audience would appreciate all his “insight” but it comes off as boring filler. There’s so much contemplation on “what to do next” and I find myself screaming at the screen because it’s so obvious at points and doesn’t need to be discussed with the audience. Any true...Read full review »

Just wrapped up episode 8 of Season 4 (my first season) and I have to agree with a few other reviews I’ve seen here; the podcast host cannot help but make the story about a missing woman from Alaska all about how brave and courageous he is to be tracking the story. The podcast seems masturbatory in that it refers to itself over and over again as if a major player in the lives of the missing or deceased.
