Fantastic Investigation But Poor Execution
Both hosts have done a fantastic job digging into this story to uncover something truly interesting that has happened in Varnam Town. However, while the podcast is worth a listen and very interesting, the actual content feels stretched out to create more episodes, which became detrimental as you sort of lose track of what is going on and what’s important. I think any real life story has a danger of just meandering and not possessing a through line for the narrative; because life doesn’t have neat story arcs. However their clearly was a story in mind, it just got lost in the stretch a bit.

I gave it a real chance because the actual story seems interesting. However, the hosts are really bad at staying on track. They go off on tangents all the time. If you’re looking for a podcast about drug smuggling in a small town this isn’t it. If you want to hear the podcast hosts talk about unrelated movies, do little to no research, and spend half of each episode on entirely unrelated chit chat, then yeah, try this one.
