This book and the two sequels are absolutely great! I listen to a bunch of audiobooks, and this series is among the best I have heard.

Priests. The Next Generation
Give it a go. Priests in space, mixed with corruption and assassination sounds like fantasy (or a return to the middle ages - except, obviously, for the space part).
