A great mix of entertainment and serious thought
On their first episode of 'Very Bad Wizards,' Sommers and Pizarro say that they want to model their podcast on sports podcasts where two guys chat like you'd hear in a bar. They've definitely succeeded, since every episode makes you feel like you're hanging out with them at a local pub. This is mostly due to the friendly and engaging tone of discussion, although in one episode they're both actually drinking and one of them is obviously a little sloshed. I'm a philosophy professor with a long commute, and I've listened to pretty much every philosophy podcast around, but VBW is the only one I've listened to multiple times for fun, and laughed out loud at in the car by myself. This always looks crazy to people driving by. Some of their best jokes are also some of their best insights, like asking why people immediately say something like: "there's no free will, that means I get to finally have sex with my dog!"Read full review »
