“I'm a second year vet tech student in the U.S. and I spend a lot of time driving between my home and school. I use the drive time to listen to veterinary podcasts of both a clinical and popular nature, and Veterinary ECC Small Talk is at the top of my to-listen-to list. The topics so far have been really interesting and Shailen's scripting is really good even for a 50-minute recording that would drag due to poor scripting. I am both adding to my knowledge bank and reinforcing what is already in my knowledge bank, so this is proving a great supplementary education resource I will continue to access after I sit my boards summer 2015. I also really appreciate that Shailen explains key terms for listeners who might be unfamiliar or unsure of the definitions, and the discussion of mechanisms and causal factors where known really helps me make sense of the whole picture.
My one suggestion for improving the podcasts is to encourage Shailen to listen to the episodes with an ear for his use of "filler words" that are superfluous and distracting. Your filler words appear to be "umm," when you pause mid-sentence to think, and "So" and "Now" to begin sentences. Once you're aware of these fillers you can make an active effort to remove them and your delivery will be even better.
