Very thought provoking
I find it interesting that many reviews want to state “a man murdered a family’s child”. A child, with uncontrolled / undiagnosed temporal epilepsy, with a history of having been sexually abused, killed another child. Of course the child did not behave in a way you would expect adults to behave. A child has completed more than the ascribed sentence for his crime. The parents of the murdered child are not presented in a “horrible light”. They are presented with what they have shown themselves to be, scared, broken, embittered, grieving people. I think this is a powerful story of our healthcare system, our mental healthcare system, racial and class bias, and the need to overhaul what has become a very corrupt prison system that does not appear to be focused on people, but solely on punishment.
