I really enjoyed this podcast, for a lot of reasons. I felt the discussion around Sophia’s innocence or guilt was well balanced. The audio quality was great and the episodes are really well put together. It’s a good pace. The music is amazing, which the host actually composed the theme and credit...Read full review »

Such a waste of time. Every person in this podcaster is a liar.

The Wideman’s should Sue the parole board, the Kane’s, his parole officer- all of these people broke the law with their actions. What parole board hires a private attorney to fight to get someone back in jail? This was a setup that the Kane’s clearly created. They tracked his location. They hired...Read full review »

I just binged this podcast over the last 2-3 days, and what incredible storytelling. The twists and turns, ins and outs, feel so genuinely murky and complex. It’s so layered and rich. And Amory is fantastic—I can’t wait to hear more from her. The story of this family was such a heartbreaking...Read full review »

I keep having to take long breaks from this podcast because of Sophia’s lies. The host is great and is really good at not being one sided

I rarely take the time to ever type out reviews…but this one deserves a shout out. Very very well done podcast. One of the best I’ve ever heard. Compelling story that was told incredibly well. Mind warp of a narrative that has so many twists and turns. Well done. Thank you!

I just finished binging season two then rolled back to season 1. I absolutely loved both, but season one.. you cannot help but feel pain for both sides. But he was only 16 and most importantly mental illness is still ignored.. and a testament that our good ole boy system is still alive and kicking!!

I just really enjoyed the storytelling and rawness of all parties. No dramatization or fluff. Really enjoyed the journalism and reporting at play here. Shane seems like an amazing human being despite the hardships. His perseverance is inspiring. Now going to check out season 1!

Plaudits on season 1. Thoughtful, self-aware, and rooted around a real issue: parole system. Season 2 is a daytime talk show.

This took years for the reporter to work on - what an example of diving deep. In the end, I feel that the reporter’s conclusion was more complex than I ever would have thought up on my own. And I suppose that's why stories like these can expand a person’s empathy. I appreciate all the years...Read full review »

I found the narrator’s gullibility to be painful. Giving these personality disordered cons a platform feeds their arrogance and toxicity. This is not a mystery, it’s a train wreck.

This is the first I had ever heard of this case, and by the time I found it there were about 5 episodes already available that I binged and was hooked to find out the answer as to who actually committed the murder. I do wish there was a true answer and conclusion, but a lot of interesting...Read full review »

Wow Sophia really had me. So many lies. Just goes to show how if you grow up in a dysfunctional household how it shapes you. This podcast is really well done. It plays out at a captivating pace from beginning to end. Binge worthy! Both seasons were interesting but the second was more captivating than the first. My issue with season one is the clear bias of the journalist. The narrator in this podcast has an amazing voice! Story keeps you on edge and its very well thought out. My favorite is the non-prejudice in this podcast. They don’t attack the police, prosecutors, or any other authorities. I’d love to meet Amory!!!! She seems so genuine.

I just binged season 2 (not realizing there was a season 1) If you loved Serial you will enjoy this podcast. I appreciate Amory taking a firm position at the end (*sarah did not ifykyk) Listen.

Great podcast! Sophie is and has been a manipulative liar her whole life.

I’m kind of burnt out on true crime but this was told very well. I loved that the real life people tell it from their own lived experience versus a story teller telling me their story. I was hooked and this is the only thing I’ve listened to in the past week. As for Sophia, I realize we are all...Read full review »

Just a show that you hear a liar repeatedly lie and journalist does not seem particularly skeptical and not challenging enough. This was my perception even from the earliest episode. “I can believe…” why are you wasting your time trying to figure out this recidivist liar.

This is a great story. The main subject is completely unreliable. A congenital liar if I’ve ever heard one.

This is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to! The narrator does a really, really nice job of staying neutral when interviewing possible suspects, and gives a full perspective on all angles of the story. I love it!

I expected so much more from a WBUR production. This was sensationalistic and ridiculous. No one was a sympathetic character. 10 hours I’ll never get back.

What a manipulative Liar!!! She had me until she took the stand and lied. I don’t understand how anyone believed a word out of her or Shawn’s mouth. What a waste of 10 episodes. Enjoyed the podcast, appreciative that she was not bias, and kept an open mind until the very end. However, I may have missed the part of why Sophia and Morgan are on the run now. Was that clear in her narrative??

I listen to a ton of these genre of podcasts. I don’t know how I hadn’t run across this one until now. It is so good! The host is seriously amazing! I binged the whole second season in a day. Now I’m off to binge the whole first one!

In episode after episode, two sociopaths tell lie after lie, several times contradicting themselves, and at the end, you are no closer to the truth than when you started. This series is generally very well-done. However, I feel like the host exerts herself too much it feels like the Amory Show, instead of the stories surrounding the Sophia’s case. The second season takes a second look at a cold case that was poorly prosecuted. My biggest complaint is the way in which the podcaster focuses on her emotions while completing the investigative process. My interest in the case was the tragic characters. I don’t feel any sense of resolution.

Amory reveals facts, insights and stories straight from the people involved. I rode the roller coaster of “who did it” right along with you. Your story telling and cadence roped me in from episode one. I cannot wait to hear more from you! I truly hope this isn’t your only podcast.

I’ve never been so mad at a star of a story. This lady deserves to be in Guyana and to never come back.
