No easy answers
This was a binge worthy podcast. There are no easy answers on such a gut wrenching topic but it was handled well. I think it is unfortunate that Eric’s family would not meet with the interviewer because some clarity on their position would help. One life is lost, how does it benefit anyone to have another person lose their life as well? It will not bring back their son, it does not ease their suffering, and it shows such a dark side of the victim’s family. I would suspect that their sweet, caring son Eric would not want them to suffer so much and most certainly not want Jake to live his life this way. I pray Eric’s parents find peace and forgiveness in their hearts and let Jake live his remaining days in freedom.

The content is (oddly) very biased against the victim and his family. I wish I could have heard arguments for AND against letting Wideman out on parole. 7 episodes painting the murderer in a sympathetic light is too much.

Sad and interesting story, very well told by the host. This podcast brings to light the many troubling issues with our current parole system. Looking forward to hearing future episodes as they come out.
