“I am so grateful to have found this podcast! Thank you, Mr. Valker! I had sung a great deal up through my early 30s - madrigal groups, choruses, church, professional solos occasionally, class voice, voice lessons, musical solos for performances or leading church services early on (not always perfectly, but always enthusiastically). But life happened, and I stopped singing, as I focused on other pursuits (mostly dancing, choreographing, teaching, and digital design). I lost my singing voice somewhere by my late 40s, and attributed it to asthma or some vocal issue - even had a throat procedure done this year to see what was wrong in there (nothing)! It didn’t help that my voice had also grown from a Tenor I in high school, to Tenor II in my 20s, then baritone and then bass (maybe).
That crack in my voice turned into a canyon, and I really could barely carry a tune by my early 60s (I’m 65 now, still dancing and teaching and designing). Occasionally doing the scales do not help much since I don’t really apply them.
Lo and behold, following the first podcast exercises, I “watched” that canyon disappear, and after that one episode, I am singing in a real, loud, full-voiced, confident way, that I have not done in 15 years. Maybe not ready yet for the stage, but it’s so nice to hear and feel that again!
What an easy quick fix already! Thank you, thank you! What a wonderful day you have made here in our house on New Years Day, 2022.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store with future episodes, but I will be continuing to apply episode one’s lessons!
