I really enjoy the silly and relaxed unselfconscious commentary by the hosts. They handle hard topics with humor and empathy. Really well edited too which is not super common in podcasts.

One of the best there is. A must listen

Need to give the Crime Podcasts a break? May I introduce you to cult podcasts? Liz and Tyler take a pretty serious (and sometimes terrifying topic) and find guests who share their experiences in cults, but give the listener a moment to laugh. I love how they give space for guests to share their...Read full review »

A heavy topic handled with humor and kindness. The banter between the hosts seems to reflect an authentic, sweet friendship.

This podcast does a good job of balancing serious subject matter with witty banter and education. Liz teases Tyler about his factoids but that is one of my favorite things about this podcast. 😁they treat all guest with grace and compassion. It’s my go to podcast right now.

Fascinating stories and I love the comic relief the hosts offer. They’re hilarious.

Great idea! Very well produced. I had to unsubscribe bc the hosts think they are hilarious and they are just annoying. The guests are great and so interesting.

Love their chemistry and banter. The guests interviews are always informative, entertaining, and respectful.

This podcast is definitely my favorite and I count the days for the next episode. I wish it was more than 1 a week. The chemistry they they have is just the best!!! So much fun listening to you guys…. I started listening to “Am I in a Cult” when I first moved to SLC, Utah…. The first few...Read full review »

I listen to a lot of podcasts on cults, this is one of my favorites. It’s not a straightforward interview format. I love the hosts’s commentary and the fun facts along the way.

I look forward every Monday to a new episode. As someone who was in a borderline culty/cult adjacent organization in my late teens/early 20s, hearing other people’s stories is such a breath of fresh air. Also, I am hoping for a “cult of Trump” episode… because we are all living it and seeing...Read full review »

I’m always happy when I see there’s a new episode available to listen to. Tyler and Liz are really fun and have a great rapport with each other

Such a good show. I listen for the banter as much as the stories. One of my favorite podcasts!

Amazingly done, there are a vast amount of cult podcasts on here but this one is my personal favorite. They take time to listen to the victims and express the horrific events while keeping the vibe light and fun. Truely something we all need in these times. For those saying they fell off when...Read full review »

Such a great listen. Enjoy hearing each person’s story, very intriguing and also very mind boggling.

I love you guys and I do love your show prior to the last one. Besides these facts I thought it was very unprofessional to bring politics into your show. Then pushing your political ideologies onto your listeners… Big mistake on your part.

I often look to podcasts to escape. I always looked forward to new episodes until they decided to start stumping for political candidates. It was fun while it lasted. I unsubscribed. Best wishes

Fascinating, entertaining and at the same scary what cults do to people.

So happy to hear your endorsement of Kamala Harris! And I really like your podcast too, especially Tyler’s fun facts lol.

So it’s no shock that two people who were in cults in their past are promoting the cult of the Democratic Party. Maybe one day someone who loves you will pull you out of the insane Dem cult you now promote. Regards, lost subscriber

Wow, a podcast about cults endorsing a promoter of the most dangerous cult ever: American Imperialism through war and death. It goes beyond political parties, it is about endorsing someone who was promised to carry on the ETHNIC CLEANSING in Palestine. Hypocrites.

Big mistake bringing politics into your show! Picking a side means you alienate a portion of your audience, are you trying to lose half of your audience? Because that is what you have done. I really enjoyed your show but this has ruined it for me! It is really a shame to see you have joined the...Read full review »

But when you endorsed Kamala and stood against a true and hateful cult leader (TRUMP), I exhaled. You did it, and I'm grateful. Keep up the good work of exposing cult leadership, like Trump! I used to really enjoy this podcast (and still do) but I really don’t enjoy all the banter. It’s a bit immature and too frequent. I feel like I’m listening to inside jokes I don’t know or care about. I like the guests’ stories which is why I keep listening but it’s definitely prefer less host...Read full review »

Like many other reviewers, I enjoy the actual stories and listening to the experiences of the guests, but the hosts are hard to listen to. Liz, A for effort. I used to really enjoy this show. Listened every week and looked forward to the episodes. However you allowed politics to enter into the latest episode with your “endorsement”. Maybe you should encourage everyone to vote how they feel led to and not just endorse one person. That kinda goes against everything you stand for.

So now they throw in bathroom humor and their obsession with Trump or TDS is getting old. Typical of anyone in “the industry” they are losing original thought and obsessed with their own political view point, thinking their way is the only way. I am bored now of this podcast. I used to REALLY enjoy this show. But it’s always had an issue with the hosts not being available enough for it. Even worse however, the “jokes” have gotten absolutely unbearable and are SO. LONG. I like it because I’m interested in cults. But the Falun Gong eps annoyed me because Liz kept saying “China” funny as if she was mocking it?? Idk what was up with that but it was cringe af.

i enjoyed a lot of the guests on this show but after the weird, cruel aside on the most recent episode where liz mocked a random fat stranger she saw for not being able to control their body to her satisfaction while exercising, i now know that if the hosts would likely be offended by the sight...Read full review »

I used to really like this podcast, but now the hosts’ “humorous “ banter is taking up more and more time and is getting more annoying. We needed to hear about yoga back farts in this latest episode? So tired of the stupid banter and off color language where it wasn’t needed - you sound like teenagers trying to be cool. This was a good podcast until the hosts started making fun of and judging people who are overweight or dont share the same diet as the majority of the population. It is a good format and good interviews. I just cant get over the intolerance.

I listen to Was in a Cult? on a monetized platform. Upwards of eleven minutes of commercials is excessive. Kinda funny but more focus on the topic is needed.

I really enjoyed the first season of the show. There was a better balance between the guest story and the host banter. But lately I’ve been super annoyed by the hosts and all the ads so I actually just unsubscribed. The guest stories are pretty great though.

Eh
I like the content of the show but the hosts are difficult to listen to. It’s like you’re listening to friends with inside jokes that you don’t relate to or understand. I used to adore this pod - I’ve listened to it and to Trust Me every week for a couple of years.
