Great premise, episodes depend on quality of guests
I have really enjoyed all the previous episodes. Great mix of fun and informative, but this week’s one on Joe McCarthy was one of weakest. It seemed pitched at a very basic knowledge level of the period, and the guest appeared to have only a sketchy knowledge of McCarthy himself. Much of his information seemed to come from a skim read of Larry Tye’s recent biography, he mixed up the names of Joseph and Robert Kennedy and failed to mention how much both the Kennedys and McCarthy being Irish Catholics explains their political connection. The other episodes so far have been excellent and genuinely informative. This one was a bit disappointing. Katie could have done a better job of explaining the complexities of 1950s social conservatism on her own. (But then that’s nearly always true!)

More reviews of We Didn't Start the Fire
Bit of a gimmick but quite interesting. Bit outraged to hear one of the presenters describe Truman as a “mummy’s boy” and no one challenged this expression. This is not the 1940s and this kind of language doesn’t belong here. Minus one star for that.

Just started the podcast it’s really good! A lot of trump bashing but it’s their opinion and doesn’t take away from the history being taught! Best part their voices don’t annoy me and I can actually listen! I love the guest speakers!
