Pull up a sandbag!
With the questions coming in and the knowledge of both Al and James, of film and what actually happened, the facts, the stories, the first hand accounts, and where to find them that they themselves are hearing from each other makes this really informative with touches of humour and tinges of seriousness. Their obvious passion on the subject of the Second World War is a boon to the listener, their personal anecdotes of visits and meetings (and now not to transport decommissioned vintage weapons) add a layer to prevent it just being a fact based reiteration of dates, battles and events. At times it feels more like sitting in a (Mess) bar listening to a conversation between veterans (which is always a privilege) rather than two historians sitting in a kitchen.

Informative. Al's chuckle makes me laugh. Both are widely read but Al ddifferentiates the two along the lines of - Al is the one sat in a chip shop eating fish and chips whilst James is out in a fishing smack in the Atlantic pulling them in. This is an excellent podcast! Very informative and entertaining. Has inspired me to learn more about lots of aspects of WW2. I love listening to people who are passionate about the subject they enjoy
