Managed to spend 40 minutes discussing housing crisis (7/4/2023) without once mentioning the endlessly growing population factor. The over population issue is fundamental to not just the housing crisis but all other environmental crisis we face. How about giving it a mention some time? Nothing...Read full review »

Great to have this pod back for a new series. It is such a relief to have some sane, balanced and realistic analysis to listen to. Excellent.

Always interested in Economic podcasts, books and insights. The episodes provide different angles so the listener gets a full picture.

Clearly one sided but always interesting to hear a side of an argument put accessibly. I consider recommending to students but not for balance. Covering the strike action in 2022 and asserting that really it's the government's fault, sitting in the shadows refusing to listen to RMT and...Read full review »

Could tell just by reading the title of the podcasts. Rather not even waste my time. Come up with a new strategy, commies

The show is well produced and researched but produces content from a very left leaning perspective, both in terms of economics but more importantly, politics. While there is some, it would be good to have more robust explanations of the ‘other side’ of the debate; steel manning those arguments...Read full review »

The title is misleading, this is NOT an economics podcast....
Loags10 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 07/07/20
The negative reviews are wrong firstly - this podcast is from an organisation which is promoting a progressive form of economics rather than a regressive neoliberal one. It is asking the big questions about the entire system, and doing it with a clear pursuit to make a fairer world for all. It...Read full review »

Really enjoy this podcast, and the in depth work of the experts on building a better economy for everyone - I’m hoping that as these conversations become more mainstream, which they seem to be, that maybe they will gain traction in real policy! Read a lot of other comments about how this podcast...Read full review »

If you are interested in a balanced discussion about the economic challenges we experience and reasonable, sustainable solutions that will benefit both people and planet then this is the podcast for you.

This podcast is very one sided and presents ideas that would have a very harmful impact on society as a whole if implemented. Recent coronavirus episodes on renters and austerity are simply ridiculous. Rent freeze for renters? Have you considered the impact of this on landlords, who rely on rent...Read full review »

Ridiculous episode on stopping rents for the lockdown. The furlough scheme is designed to put 80% of salaries into people’s pockets, there is no need to build arrears for the vast majority of renters as the episode suggests. They are almost on a level footing to where they were before this...Read full review »

You got the election wrong and now you still bang the austerity drum. Got over it these are new times get ahead of the economy not behind it. Poor effort.

Manages to be both fun and informative.

This podcast has a left-wing ideological slant which actually ignores true economics and engages in the wishful thinking offered by a ‘controlled economic system’. Very disappointing and actually misleadingly named.
Larry pk via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/19/19
This is not an objective balanced view and some of the comments demonstrate a lack of expertise.
Jxmiddle via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 12/02/19
To claim that this podcast is independent (politically) is a fallacy. It’s a thinly veiled liberal podcast. The content itself is fine if you’re looking for a one sided argument, but I expected more from a podcast that claims to be funded by an independent think tank
fletcher2323 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/28/19
A very interesting insight into how economic and political ideologies are developed, implemented and enforced.

An interesting perspective on politics/economics. However, lack of balance detracted from the otherwise well produced content and left me frustrated. Add some centre and right wing opinions to counterbalance the left and you’ll have a much better product. As it is, this is a slick but ultimately...Read full review »

The is a well put together podcast with impressive production values and engaging speakers. However, it would be improved further by inviting guests with a wider range of political and economic viewpoints rather than the consistently those from a new left/socialist outlook.

Really interesting perspectives, great & informed presenter too. Accessible from any political viewpoint!

A ray of light in a public climate increasingly clouded with the politics of negation and the economics of big business

The basic economics info is ok but the episode about replacing the tax free allowance demonstrated a great naivety from Alfie Bow. There was no mention of how such a radical change could affect people, for instance, those trying to plan retirement on a low income when history is clear that...Read full review »

I am an avid listener of the Weekly Economics Podcast and find it entertaining while also shedding light on some of the major cracks on our current economic system. The hosts make economics accessible 💚

The issues discussed are relevant, current and the show is informative. I loved the episode on climate change. Taxing emissions as a disincentive for environmentally damaging behaviour is a sluggish start. The interactions between government policy, personal choices and habit building should...Read full review »

This really is a great show I’ve be listening for close to 2 years. 30 minutes of economics is a great format. I had a pretty busy back half of 2017 and I’ve just now caught up on the last six months worth of shows. Excellent! Looking forward to the 2018 shows.
