Took me awhile to come around but this absolutely one of my favorite shows now. The voice acting is subtle (probably like a real small town documentary crew would be?) but I’ve found that firstly super relaxing and secondly motivating of re-listens to catch details I missed before. Also, I listen to a ton of horror podcasts and I think this is actually some of the best writing I’ve heard. It’s academic—really academic—with dense fictional sourcing and interconnections. That might not be for everyone, but if you’re a fan of Lovecraft and Borges, and enjoy the combination of smart, somewhat dry histories portraying existentially horrifying events, you’ll love this podcast.
