Building nicely over time
As others have noted, this brilliant podcast runs on equal shots of H.P. Lovecraft, Twin Peaks and Thomas Pynchon. After 20+ episodes, it has also managed to sustain its absurd black humor. And there are recurring characters -- for instance, the terrible Glow Cloud that menaces Night Vale in episode two later joins the school board -- a happy ending! I would also strongly recommend "A Story About You," which is quite different than the other episodes but also quite good. Just don't get too attached to the radio station's interns.Read full review »

The dry delivery makes for a really creepy atmosphere. Chilling and funny at the same time. I'm looking forward to lots more!Read full review »

Welcome to Night Vale is fascinatingly written, deeply creative and totally engrossing. It makes me think of the now-dead art of the radio drama, in a very, very good way. Download Welcome to Night Vale if you want a weird, creepy, funny, sad, strange story told in the most bizarre fashion.

One of those podcasts you'll get wrapped up in. Great mythology, full of wry humor and great surrealist bits. Makes you wish you could visit Night Vale, only to run away screaming.Read full review »
