Updated for common decency
I really like Max and think he’s made football weekly even better than the late, great Jimbo. David O’Doherty is one of the most intelligent, genuine and deeply funny humans on this earth. This pod idea isn’t great though sadly. The highlight of the second episode was Lou telling them what she had for lunch. When she trailed it, Max got genuinely excited as he knew that her upcoming list of vegan ingredients was going to be an improvement on the preceding 20 mins of admin waffle. They’re all so nice though that I’ve come back and softened the review and added a couple of stars. Max’s charm is partly his light, fluffy and inoffensive nature. This podcast is what happens when you let him lean too much into that and if you don’t have a dark cynical counterpoint like Barry around. It feels a little like empty school gate chit chat and won’t be around forever. It’s easy listening though and worth a go if you like Max and David.
