At a time when there’s a lot of “famous for being famous”, it’s so interesting to learn about the fantastic contributions people make every day!

It is so cool getting a peek into so many different lives. TV shows tend to follow crime professionals or medical professionals, ignoring the stories of every other profession. This show opens up the lives of everyday ordinary people who turn out to be extraordinary. As a podcast, this is the...Read full review »

Love this podcast! Been listening basically since it began but for some reason didn’t think to leave a review until now. Dan is one of the best interviewers I’ve heard. He asks just the right questions and strikes just the right tone to connect over lots of different topics. It’s always...Read full review »

Beautiful story telling and unsuspectingly insightful.

Many podcasts interview a monotonous stream of famous people, characteristically ignorant of the good breaks they got and the view from the other side. This podcast goes for something much more interesting.

I’ve been really digging this podcast. Dan’s interviewing style (genuinely curious, with thoughtful questions and prompts) really adds so much depth and dimension livelihoods unfamiliar to me. Each episode is an absolute gem, and Dan is a wonderful host.

When I was in graduate school, career counseling was one of my favorite classes. I loved learning about different professions, and now is your chance to learn about both professions AND professionals. There are so many great jobs, and this podcast may have you second-guessing your career choice!

Amazing insight into how seemingly ordinary people in ordinary jobs are extraordinary. Life is special because we make it so.

Sesame Street taught us about “the people that we meet each day." This show lifts the mask of all those professions so we can discover the charming, lovely, intelligent people behind the professions, to see all they do in addition to the more obvious actions, to see their motivations, to hear...Read full review »

This show is so interesting, you learn little nuggets you’d never expect. I also love that it’s regular people! Just wish the episodes were a little bit longer, people have great stories.

Love the show but mostly it makes me realize how little do I know about other people’s professional live. Thank you!

I don’t listen to many podcasts but always find What It’s Like to Be fascinating and filled with warmth and positive examples of humanity. You’ll never see people doing jobs in the same way after listening to this, and that’s a good thing!

We like to listen to the podcast with the kids to get an insight about what normal people do at their jobs and to grow appreciation for them! I’m a podcast junkie who sees several podcasts drop on a weekly basis. This is one of a handful of podcasts that I almost always immediately listen to as soon as it drops. it has all the things: curiosity, informative, helpful, entertaining, and most of all beautifully insightful into the soul.

I love this podcast way more than expected. The host who interviews the guests is genuine and curious. Also, it’s a soothing podcast in this hectic world. It’s great to hear from people who truly LOVE their job. What a great idea for a podcast, and a great host to do the interviewing.

Happened upon the podcast after Kelly Corrigan shared an episode. My 10 year old has been loving these episodes, along with me. I’m learning alongside her and it’s spurred some fantastic conversations. Recommending to everyone I know with kids. Thanks for this insightful content!

I spends hours each week in a car for my job. Tons of windshield time. To pass the time I love to listen to audio books. On my last trip, I completed my book before I returned home. One of the best podcasts I have listened to so far. Listening to an episode is a lot of “ohhhhh yeah. I wonder what that’s like!” Great podcast to binge to while on a roadtrip. 10/10 would recommended.
