History lesson
I had a friend who ordered pizza from McDonald's. He's a good guy. Not the kind of person who would treat service people poorly. He was a home owner and took pride in his lawn. Anyway, the McDonald's by him not only served pizza but it was also test marketing home delivery. But it would only delivery pizza. You wanted a Big Mac or a Whopper or something you still had to drive yourself there. McDonald's was happy to drive a pizza over to you. I think they wanted pizza to succeed that much. We didn't have global warming then so really the only cocern about putting more cars on the road was how many children's lives were at risk as the guy drove crazy like over there to deliver 12 slices of McDonald's pizza. Parents. Watch your children better. The pizza was late. This was in Canada and we don't have any kind of 30 minutes or it's free type deals. Even at Dominoes. Dominoes Canada's motto is 30 minutes or please call again. So this wasn't 1 minute late and my friend wasn't going ape entitled crazy. I'm talking really late. 40 minutes late. Or 20 minutes late. I forget. I could say any number. But just imagine a wholly unreasonable time to wait for 12 slices of pizza from McDonald's. So the guy gave the pizza and my friend stiffed him for the tip. Now the tipping debate is so Yelp but I'll just say I agreed with his tipping philosophy. You tip on the whole experience. Sure maybe the cook was to blame. But if you don't give your server or pizza guy a financial interest to go back and yell at the cook ("I know where your daughter goes to school!") you're just really tipping him out of a job. Right. The driver was upset he got an insufficient tip and got back in his car (probably a Korean car) and drove donuts all over my friend's lawn and totally wrecked the grass (aka sod). So, I don't shed many tears for McDonald's pizza no longer being offered in any civilized society. There were problems there. Structural problems down the whole supply chain.Read full review »
