“I read Clive's (jwp_22) review and for a second thought I may have already left my own previously, he really hit the nail on the head!
I like to try and give a balanced review where possible, so i'll start by saying there's a lot of research that goes in to this, and it's very stat-oriented, which is helpful for FPL of course. Unfortunately that's where the positives end, it's the delivery that really lets this podcast down compared to others.
There's a heavy hint of "social-awkwardness" as the information is ploughed through - I'm sure if I transcribed what was being said there wouldn't be a full-stop in sight as pauses for breathing are few and far between.
The "themes" are god-awful and pointless, and if you aren't up to speed on the fact this is a thing, it sounds really unprofessional and just plain weird (it took me a few podcasts to realise this happened - bizarre!). There are also "running jokes" apparently, which again if you aren't clued in on this, make the presenters sound ill-informed and unprofessional. Every player also seems to have a nickname "Raz" or "kun" or this or that or whatever, to the point you can't actually work out which player is being spoken about a lot of the time!
Unlike Clive, i've found the online articles a bit of a waste of time - one I read on "Talisman theory" could have done with a TL;DR at the end, simply stating - "At every club there is one player that will score more points than the other players at the same club" - I couldn't see the pomp and fervour around this as I thought that was fairly obvious, and hardly a groundbreaking observation.
I'll finish by saying I stopped listening to the pod a long time ago, and personally prefer other options out there - I know the lads hate constructive feedback, and I've had some salty comments in the past when offering feedback so I'll close this account down so not to receive any petty backchat - I can only hope the guys read this and take my advice this time!”Read full review »
