Meh maybe
Well produced and usually funny. I struggled with the rating... I think I would have given it a higher score early on (I've been listening for about six-months, IIRC). However, as time has gone on, a few facets of the show are grating. First, there's an awful lot of airtime for banter between the hosts at the beginning. If you are huge fans of Cameron, Rhea, and Ricky, than you will be pleased. I think it has gotten very predictable and b-grade in the last few months. If you are coming to this podcast for a discussion of movies, it seems off topic. Someone's going to do a mash-up of the hosts saying the same things every podcast, and it's going to be devastating. Second, occasionally there are a few lapses in movie knowledge that make me question their ability to review movies. Like none of the hosts had seen the original Clash of the Titans. Is that OK if you position yourself as action movie nerds? Third – this is tricky – there’s a great deal of discussion about race, gender, and sexuality. I don’t think about these topics as much as the hosts, and I’ve found their discussion to be thought provoking and enlightening. However, they seem to really linger on those topics in a way that’s not fun. I mean no disrespect to these topics… it’s just seems to reach a level that narrows the appeal of this a podcast. I don’t want these topics to be absent… I just prefer less soapbox in my comedy podcasts. A potential solution – maybe the hosts should focus on movies the love, and avoid “bad” movies. There’s better (funnier) podcasts for dealing with movies that have horrible themes, characters, etc. I like the news portion of the podcast, including the news itself and the reaction/discussion of the news by the hosts. Overall, I feel like this podcast is still working on its formula, experimenting with structure, composition, and time allotments. I think it is promising, but it's fallen out of my top line-up in the last two months... so 3-stars.Read full review »

If you want movie news and technical analysis, look elsewhere. This is like three good friends getting together and talking about film the way you would with your friends. Except they're funnier than you and your friends.Read full review »
