“So he had an affair with a teenager? Is this correct or not? The podcast never really made this clear. Greg Bearup referred to their relationship twice in passing as “nefarious” and that they slept together, but as the narrator never made this explicitly clear. That’s unfortunate, given the current climate and the ongoing discussions we’re having in our society about men in power taking advantage of young women. You could have dedicated a couple of minutes to this, rather than skirting around the edges, too afraid to comment properly or weigh in on it. It’s as if you didn’t feel it your place to bring this up. Or, look, maybe you can’t due to Australia’s defamation laws but there are ways to have addressed this rather than leave it dangling. Otherwise, a fairly good podcast, if someone unstructured. Perhaps I find it more compelling because I’m from the northern beaches and have a family holiday house in Blueys Beach. I wonder if others would necessarily feel that way given the podcast lacks agency. It feels slow and lacks the suspense other podcasts that have dealt with con artists - Dirty John! - possessed.”
