Jane, age is not relevant. I had a dreadful experience with a charmer at the age of 60. Look up Machiavellianism. It’s the third element of the so called Dark Triad of personality traits. And it is the disorder that I believe Hamish has. Knowing it doesn’t change your nightmare, but it will allow...Read full review »

An engaging spellbinding podcast so mesmerising it could be a feature film. Justice will never prevail enough to restore the emotional damage caused by this man’s egocentric sociopathic and predatory nature. Thank you Greg Bearup for helping others by shedding light on the slithering workings...Read full review »

A really well-produced and engaging series from The Australian. Lots of voices and perspectives which makes for a perfectly paced and engaging story.

Great podcast I have a question for all of the people that were conned except Young Jane , but is there not a certain amount of greed or lunacy to be taken in by a bloke with a flashy car and 3 piece suit We have all lose some $$$ to one sort of Hamish or another, but there is the old story of...Read full review »

So well done. What a sorry excuse of a human being - unimaginable that someone could have no conscience whatsoever. I hope he is getting therapy if only to understand more about how minds like his work. Well done Greg Bearup!

Amazing that someone can treat people like this for so long & get away with it. Very sad for all the people he hurt along the way. Great listening.

I was so moved by the interview with Jane, my heart broke for her. I have to admit, I got choked up during the sentencing

A bingeworthy podcast, led by a host/journalist that seems to really care. Brings home the personal toil con artists can have.

Beautifully presented. Extremely professional and well researched. Cannot believe just what this man got away with. Wholly recommend this podcast.

Such a great display of so many good people, taken advantage of by a horrid human. Thanks for bringing such a good story to our ears. I’m sure many have learned to be cautious.

Sadly this is not an uncommon experience- be careful as even people who you believe are long term friends or family are capable of this kind of crime. The police are often resistant to assist as they appear to view these crimes as business loans gone bad

This is one of the most compelling podcasts ever. To listen to each segment as more victims of psycho Hamish come out with their stories. And best of all, to get the satisfaction of hearing his sentencing! I truly hope this story reaches the world - to help people have healthy skepticism and...Read full review »

I enjoyed this podcast but there was big chunks of interviews that should have not been included as the phone lines were so terrible. I was lost at times and had to wait for the interviewer to summarise what had been said. It happened in almost every episode. That’s the only thing letting it down

Sorrow for all the victims. Jack & Bec sound like wonderful people. Jane too is intelligent, articulate, as the interviewer said, wise beyond her years. They are sharing her lessons and hard-won acceptance. That any of them would do the interview shows they are bravely processing the...Read full review »

The story is well told and the podcast is intriguing. While I agree with many other comments in the reviews about the victim mishandling during the Jane bonus episode, I found it equally empowering at the maturity and insight she displayed. I also do applaud the narrator for letting that...Read full review »

For the most part, I was able to get past the host’s strained timbre and propensity for ending an interviewee’s sentences with sensational conclusions. Sure, these people invested to get rich quick, but they were also victims of fraud and deserved my sympathy. There was a distinct lack of...Read full review »

Janes interview was very emotional. She was so brave and honest. I didn’t like the intrusive probing when she was emotional. Great pod!! Feel sorry for Jane, but she was just a child. For the life of me I can’t figure out why these people fell for this! Call it a good dose of US midwestern skepticism, but I was taught the if it seems too good to be true it probably is.

I am enjoying this podcast and only have one episode to go. However, I am very concerned about the portrayal of “Jane.” I am very concerned for Jane’s view of what she “did.” Jane is 100% a victim of Hamish, if not a victim of the worst kind. She was an underaged “child” who was sexually,...Read full review »
