School Librarian Approved
As a school librarian in Wisconsin (and a huge fan of Jo Piazza ) I have been anxiously awaiting this podcast. Anxiously because Laura Wilder is really controversial in my space and I get texts and emails from fellow librarians on a regular basis asking “what are you doing with LIW?”. If this podcast were simply a celebration of her legacy, I would not have been able to recommend it. I’m so pleased to report that by Jo and her team interviewing Dr. Debbie Reese (creator of the site American Indians in Children’s Literature, my gold standard reference on this subject), and mentioning the use of The Long Winter as WWII propaganda already in episode 1, the podcast meets my “thoroughly reported” criteria for this topic. If you’re in the book industry, a parent of a young reader, or in education, it’s a must listen!

Well researched and enthralling even if you’re not interested in the Little House on the Prairie books/series but just generally interested in literature this is definitely worth a listen.
