“Hi Arden and the production team!
I’m behind on Joan’s season because Hurricane Helena decimated Asheville, NC where I live. After losing all utilities (we still don’t have running water), fleeing the area, and volunteering with the clean up effort, I finally got a chance to start watching Joan’s season and listening to your podcast this week. Both the show and the podcast have been a bright spot and a bit of normalcy in what has been a very traumatic and difficult time.
I cracked up at the start of the episode 2 recap when you talked about being in Columbia, SC with so many references to the University of South Caroline Gamecocks. My son went there for graduate school last year. I’d never been to Columbia or USC, and like you, I was slightly shocked about how much they lean into the whole gameCOCK thing. My son loved going to school there. We loved visiting him there, and I’m glad you were charmed by Columbia.
When Asheville returns to its funky glory, I hope you, your amazing guests (I love them all!!), and the production team will consider doing a live show here … or maybe you’ll do a stand up show?! I will be your local champion to make sure the house is packed with a great audience. Chelsea Handler did a show here a couple of years ago. And yes, the venue was completely full, and my daughter and I had front row seats and back stage passes to take our picture with Chelsea.😍
Thanks for doing the lord’s work and making me smile during a difficult time.
