A.W. Tozer
Description
A.W. Tozer was a man whose life and ministry were fueled by a deep hunger for God and a fervent desire to see the church return to a high view of God’s holiness. Born into poverty in 1897, Tozer came to faith as a teenager after hearing a street preacher exhort people to call on the name of the Lord. This pivotal moment marked the beginning of a remarkable journey that saw him preach without formal training for 44 years and write some of the most influential Christian books of the 20th century. Known for his passionate sermons and unapologetic critiques of the church’s spiritual decline, Tozer challenged Christians to keep seeking the things above (Colossians 3:1-2). Despite his shortcomings, Tozer’s legacy remains a call to live with eternity in view, prioritizing the pursuit of God above all else. His prayerful plea for deeper intimacy with God resonates as an enduring invitation to each of us: Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, that so I may know Thee indeed. Scripture Reading: Acts 2:21; Colossians 3:1
