10/10 Buns of Steel
I was SO excited when I found out that this podcast was happening. I am a big fan of the Trek FM network of podcasts but was always a little saddened by the relatively few number of females perspectives among their various shows (which is not to say I dislike any of the shows). So when I found about this one at the end of my other favorite Trek FM show (To The Journey) I downloaded the first episode instantly. As a trekkie and a feminist, I went into this show with very high expectations and I am pleased to say that they were all met and even exceeded. The hosts are all articulate, intelligent, and pretty funny. I find the episode topics to be original and thought-provoking. Star Trek is something that SHOULD always be very feminist, as full equality between the sexes is something the Federation is supposed to have achieved, but it can often be pretty far off the mark and these women are unafraid of calling it out. Such well done analysis can only deepen one’s appreciation of Star Trek as a whole. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend (and have done) this podcast to anyone who loves Star Trek, general science-fiction, or who is interested in women as they are represented in pop-culture.

I am a voracious podcast listener. But upon discovering this podcast around a week ago, I’ve dropped every other listening material and binge listened to WaW. I consider myself a feminist and a Trekkie, but after listening to just the first couple episodes I realized how much my worldview and...Read full review »
