One area that distressed me was listening to three rich white people talking about opioid addiction as if it's a public health crisis but not addiction writ large. Prisons for profit are a factor. And drug laws. Layers upon layers and new devils and new levels everywhere one might choose to look. But somehow, white people not leaving depressed areas and then choosing to zone out on drugs is a crisis? I'm Hillbilly Elegy. You know how I got over it? I moved to where the jobs were.
