Courageous Victims, Excellent Investigative Reporting
I remember the stench of that horrific Ambercrombie & Fitch cologne at the mall and the snobby way people were treated in the store. My daughter was in middle school and it was some sort of status symbol to have something, anything with their dumb name on it. We went into the store once and that was enough for both of us. This story held me captivated the entire way through. I want to shout WAY TO GO, YOU COURAGEOUS YOUNG MEN!!! Please know that your stories MATTER. Please know that there are so many Mamas of boys out here who see the same exploitive, body image, low self-worth bulls!@t used to diminish girls being used on our sons. Innocence is stripped from our boys as they’re forced into some sick misogynistic version of “cut” abs, buff boy biceps and super skinny forms that are unrealistic and damaging to their sense of self. But then to recruit kids from the Midwest, from small town U.S.A. and dangle their desire for employment as a carrot leading to sex slavery, rape, coercive psychotic secret orgies with grown men is ABSOLUTELY SEX TRAFFICKING. To the young men who went through this horror: Please know that you did nothing wrong. We are all taught to bow down to men in power, not to question the Uber-wealthy and to keep our mouths shut about obvious transgressions, especially in this distorted society that values money and status above all else; innocence be damned. This was not about the act of going to an interview, agreeing to be photographed or even showing your body. This was a well-oiled (gross) Sexual Predator Machine hunting for prey and finding it. Mike Jeffries and Michael Smith-your reckoning is coming and I CANNOT WAIT for you to pay the steep price for all the horror you inflicted on these boys. And that disgusting no-nose, snake-tape Jim “try before you buy” sicko will reap what he has sown. Anyone who was part of lying to these boys, paying them, shaving them like animals-your day is coming. For anyone who claims “they went into it with their eyes wide open” is a filthy sick liar. Most people don’t even THINK of this crap, much less expect it from such a “successful” company. We don’t buy into your sick delusion that somehow allows you to justify sex crimes and I pray the victims won’t either. Abusers bank on your own guilt, shame and silence. Since they don’t have a conscience, they exploit yours. Don’t let them. To the reporter: You are one POWERHOUSE of a woman!! To fearlessly keep going when real threat and danger is present is such a testament to you, your integrity and your brilliant craft as a journalist. Thank you for all the time, energy and intelligence you poured into this ongoing nightmare of a story. It takes so much strength to peer into the dark, seedy underbelly of America’s secrets and KEEP GOING. Without you, these men would not have been heard. Without your immense courage and fierce determination, none of us would know that this company needs to CRASH AND BURN AND PAY for lifetime therapy, financial compensation and public apology acknowledging the harm THEY ALLOWED on their watch. I don’t care how long ago it was. I am so sick of the “statute of limitations” loophole and plausible deniability. The company knew. There’s no way an operation that vast went on for that long without executives knowing. We don’t believe you. We believe the victims. Whether you admit it or not, you can’t hide your involvement from the Wheel of Cause and Effect. Karma’s coming for you and She’s gonna keep coming for you until you experience threefold the harm that you caused and allowed.
