Portable Wachtel - what a brilliant idea, why didn't they think of it sooner?
If I ever get to listen to this show on the airwaves it is because I am out in the evening running some errands, so now I can take Eleanor (and her guests) with me wherever I am, and can listen to my heart's content, at my own convenience--I love it! If you like to read fiction and think about "the universe" then I wholeheartedly recommend this podcast to you; I am confident you will not be disappointed. Her books are awesome as well. Thoughtful, insightful, provocative, inquiring, stimulating, I'm running out of adjectives, except I forgot to say explicitly, enjoyable.Read full review »

Thank you so much for making this available on podcast, for me the best find for a long time (am a big fan of the New Yorker fiction podcast). Please bring all available interviews 🙏

You know the interviewer has done a good job when the guests thank her for an interesting interview! Eleanor is well-prepared and articulate, and her perceptive questions elicit equally intelligent responses. My favourite CBC podcast.

Writers & Company’s Eleanor Wachtel is surely one of the great interviewers. She is engaging and thoughtful and her guests -authors, poets, film-makers - always seem delighted to respond to Ms. Wachtel’s questions. The resulting conversations are rich in insights, ideas and, of course, stories.
