Tragic story but beautifully told

This is truly heartbreaking. Let’s hope the proper people are caught

I was very moved by Annette’s story. The behaviour of South Wales Police was truly shocking. The dogs on the street could have told them the arson was clearly linked with Diane’s boyfriend Sean. Heartbreaking. A lot of recovery for that poor family.

When I see the faces of Annette and her beautiful children, my heart just breaks for this family. How could the justice system get it so wrong? Shame on them all

Loved listening to your podcast. Even though what your mum and family went through was horrific and so sad Is there only 9 episodes? As it series just stopped!? Andy

…way too long. Repetitive and uses the same recordings multiple times. A heartbreaking story.

As usual great quality from the BBC

Heartbreaking story of a gross miscarriage of justice, perpetrated by South Wales Police and the judiciary.

I couldn’t recommend this podcast enough, what a tragic story told amazingly. The strength of the daughter is commendable.

This is such a terribly sad story! Well done Nicole (nicol) for sharing this with us. You have done a great job and it must have been hard and emotional for you!

Annette’s audios shows how much she loved each one of her children. This series highlights the classist and patriarchal legal system that imprisons pregnant women from poor backgrounds and the flawed police investigations. She loved her children so strongly - it was a tragedy.

Such a sad and unnecessary story to read but how wonderfully put together and presented by her daughter. I’m sure Annette would have been super proud of this production. X

This was so sad & a complete miscarriage of justice. Poor woman, my heart goes out to her family.

Like others have said it’s good and glad the story is being told but it does feel dragged out. The story could have been told in a shorter succinct way and still provide the impact it wanted.

This is really really good, it is harrowing just how so many lives can be destroyed by a wrong conviction, this women was part of a loving family and it was all taken away from her. How could they have convicted her when there was so many red flags?? I bet her mother will be so proud of her...Read full review »

Annette’s own daughter beautifully narrates this serialised investigation , analysis and diary of the events - and never happened non-events - surrounding this miscarriage of justice. Real voices, real experiences, real facts; a ‘must listen’.

episode 2 is not working though so haven’t managed to get past episode 1, please fix :)

The story is a great listen and gives an interesting perspective from the point of the daughter. However the format is drawn out (very much like an American documentary). It could easily have been half the episodes and still had the same impact.

This is such an important story to cover and her daughter strikes the balance between factual information and the devastation it wrecked on their family

Absolutely devastating account of a miscarriage or justice. Gripping listen one would assume must be fiction. It isn’t. I feel pain and sadness for all involved. The podcast has been excellently crafted to tell this heartbreaking story.

Beautifully narrated and very brave of Annette’s daughter to own this project. Gives a really balanced account of life at that time. The heartbreak in Annette’s voice is palpable and raw. I remember this happening, and the impact on the town. I’m so glad this is here for people to know the pain...Read full review »

I cannot conceive of a worse ordeal an innocent person could go through. Beautifully and bravely narrated by the victim’s daughter. Her children are Annette’s legacy and they do her proud.
