Since Trump, less substance more political gossip
I've enjoyed listening to the Potomac Watch for over a year. It provided me with an informed Republican perspective, and I am opened-minded and enjoy learning about how other people -- outside of California think. However, after the election, I am really disappointed and disturbed by the hosts. Before November, they ridiculed candidate Donald Trump. But after he won, they really flipped and just followed along, there was very little self-reflection or critical analysis of his policies (which they did with Obama). On a recent episode on Trump's budget proposal, there was very little critical review of the budget itself, just assumption and after assumption that lowering the tax rate would improve investment and boost the economy. No clear examples from macro-economics to back up their discussion. On the healthcare bill that Republicans are trying to pass in congress, there was no analysis or review of the bill itself - just a review of who wasn't standing in line and why. They reviewed the heck out of policies and bills during the Obama administration, which I appreciated. Not anymore... And despite having a Republican president and Republican majority in congress, the hosts' language remains is very decisive. It's still very "those Democrats" and "those liberals". Recently, the hosts went on and on about why we can't pull out of the Paris Climate Accord (...to them, not because of diplomacy or US leadership on the world stage, but rather because of the legal repercussions) and ended the discussion with "but Obama shouldn't haven't gotten us into it in the first place." Not even a word about global warming, which these hosts know is happening, I assume...... I'm really quite astounded.Read full review »

This is an insightful, reasonable political podcast that is fairly non biased. Just not quite the five star it used to be since Joe Rago’s passing...

An excellent review of Don McGahn and preview of a potential Justice Kavanaugh, particularly Kim Strassel’s final point about generational change and the prospect of more aggressively written opinions.
