“The WSJ’s What’s News has been my go to news briefing podcast for the last two years. So when I awoke to the April 1st reboot - I assumed that it was a joke. Until
This morning (April 2nd) when the farcical
Where do I start with what went wrong....
The new presenter who seems completely surprised, incredulous, smirking when she meets every fifth word in her slowly spoken over enunciated sentences...?
Or... the Grey’s Anatomy styled backing music (Are those wooden bells? A xylophone perhaps?)
Or.... the constant comical inflections inappropriately punctuating the presentation. What is it about the regulatory oversights at VALE that evokes the same comical inflection that she uses in discussing food price cuts as well as her own jokes?
Or.... the new closing tag line tipping with a giggling ‘Thanks for listening, now get to work’ at the end of the podcast.

Maybe some consultant came in and gave you a list of pointers to lighten up the segment. Let me assure you, as a millennial myself, this result is grossly off the mark. The result is trite and cringe worthy - this is no longer a podcast reflective of the high calibre journalism for which the WSJ is known.
Please. Please. Please. Reverse course while you still have listeners.”
