Trainwreck of a podcast
I thought this 'cast would have potential, the concept is strong. However it's the execution of the concept which counts and here this podcast is an epic fail. I listened from the first episode "jimmies" through to about the tenth episode. Problems: 1.Responses to questions seem to not be researched in the least. Everything is off the cuff. For example to the question "are calling chocolate sprinkles jimmies racist" the guest and the host rely on pure speculation. And they missed the obvious: The "Jim" Crow law which set "separate but equal" racial policy in the US. There's also Twain's "N* Jim" in Huck Finn. But the best the host and gues could come up with is that "Jimmy" sounds diminutive so that might be a problem, and that black men refer to their "jimmy" when refering to their penises. The take away: "Hey we're not sure if its racist, you're guess is as good as ours." Fail. 2. They offer lots of criticism of white folks who use the n word, ramble on and fail to stay on point. This is across many episodes. I happen to agree with the host's point of view, but i'ts BORING to hear over and over again and doesn't educate me in the least. 3. Too much cursing. I listen to comedy podcasts that have a decent amount of cursing and mature content- The Nerdist for example. I'm not a prude. But there is so much cursing by the host that he comes off as an amatuer. Seems like he has little of substance to say, so instead he curses out straw men, and some of the callers who posed the question of the "day's" cast. 4. Insults the callers. And not in a funny way. So why would I want to call in? So the tone of my voice can be insulted? So the signal quality of my phone can be insulted? So that the truth of the situation I am describing is doubted and I'm put down as being untruthful? This is Ridiculous! And again NOT FUNNY and NOT ENTERTAINING and NOT CLEVER. I could list more, but I've already wasted enough of my time on this 'cast. Don't waste YOUR time on this sad excuse for a "socially relevant" podcast.Read full review »

Boring, not funny! Stereotypes are funny - some forms of racist people are funny and stupid, so we laugh at them, not make commentary on their behavior. You guys have managed to make stereotyping (as you call it racism) and the differances we as people have, completly boring and divisive! ...Read full review »

at first it started out a little weak but it got better. i used to think that andrew should really go in and do some critical analyses but coming from a background that has studied race i think the casual format works: funny enough (sometimes in a faux-hostile way) without making it all seem a...Read full review »
