You’re beautiful mates! Inside and out!
Men’s mental health is undoubtedly a guiding force in so many of the societal problems facing the western world. Despite its Yorkshire roots, this podcast's applicability to the entirety of the western world cannot be understated. Having grown up in a small southern conservative town in the United States, there is nearly perfect overlap with many of the issues with masculine norms described in the first episode. Men’s sporting culture is a significant contributor to this and is addressed very thoroughly in the first episode. Furthermore, many of these issues are addressed through the lens of empirical and academic research. As a researcher in a psychiatric field, it’s refreshing to hear empirical research being referenced and acting as a jumping off point for discussions about real-life experiences. This is very much counter to the ever-growing and pervasive anti-science and anti-truth zeitgeist present in much of today’s societies. In shorter terms, it’s a handful of intelligent blokes, using life experiences to substantiate research about what all men face, but never talk about. And what better starting point for a revolution than discussing it in an open format such as a podcast? Here’s to hoping it’s as helpful and insightful to your Yorkshire countrymen as it is to the rest of us men out here. Cheers!Read full review »

Looking forward to see this podcast grow and showing how common poor mental health is in elite sport and how we all can use something to overcome our own little battles be it big or small.
