Telling these stories is important. For white folx or people of privilege it is important that we listen. Wake up every day. For black folx, listen with care. Secondary to the importance of the message, but still very much worth mentioning - Mr. Lacour is an amazing story teller. He is...Read full review »

I wasn’t familiar with this story prior to this podcast. Absolutely required learning, really makes you think in a lot of things! Great host and research

Great podcast. Very informative. You can hear him putting what happened in his own life in the mix. at first, I was like “we didn’t need to know” but as the story went on? It grew on me. He doesn’t stutter over his words and speaks clearly. Can’t wait to finish!

I was really pulled in by this podcast and remembering seeing this poor child on the news. Well, I’m grateful for the investigative work done here, I was very disgusted by the.” not gonna pull a black man off the streets for being a pawn”. I’m sorry, but anyone that takes an innocent life should...Read full review »

Absolutely brilliant. Lost my partner in 1980, here in Australia, because he was black. Because he was black, he made decisions that cost him his life.Because he was black the cops made decisions that cost him his life. Because he was black they made sure the only one who paid for his life was...Read full review »

Super engaging, important historical podcast telling it like it is.

The writer & host is the real gem in this, charming, articulate yet real - lowkey wanted more of his story due to lack of closure on the case in focus (im currently on the final ep, so could be surprised)

One of the best podcasts I have heard in a long time. Yohance is an incredible storyteller.

Yohance: I really want to thank you for this. Your reporting is exhaustive and impressive, but even better is your honesty and reflection on Lenard and what happened in 1997 and after . . . and before. It’s really an incredible piece of journalism.

Interesting story told in an authentic, attention getting style. Narrator is unpolished. He struggles with interjecting his life into the story. Obvious biases and racist attitudes while completely overlooking black on black or black on black crime. 3.5/5. Went with 3 because 4.8 overall is way...Read full review »

Northsider… dirty, dirty politics. Clout overrides it all. Listen to this. It’s deeper than black vs. white. Absolutely great storytelling and important. And I thank you for sharing.

It’s great to hear the truth of events, and no doubt Yohan is an engaging story teller. It’s amazing to hear another perspective than the wealthy, white, kumbaya one that dominated the news back in the day. But dude, you repeatedly say how much you love black people, and you care about justice...Read full review »

Very well done. Insightful as well as interesting and informative. Love the personal reflection and overall truth telling about insidious racism in Chicago or the USA anywhere.

This show is perfect for me. I love stories about us, told by us. This story is one I never heard even though I was living in Minnestoa at the time. There are surely more Lenards out there. Bravo! Now that I’m near the end of the podcast, I have developed a special disdain for Rev. Martin. He...Read full review »

I really appreciated this podcast and it’s perspective that the expectation on black people to immediately turn to forgiveness and reconciliation when they are victims of racial violence is meaningless when the victim is a young boy beaten by white men. The podcaster allows us into his personal...Read full review »

Excellent mini series which translates across the ocean to the UK. The investigative journalist reporting really captures the story and the subtext. A story about negotiation and reconciliation asking a question; should we passively accept the systems that bind us still?

You Didn’t See Nothin’ is an intriguing podcast about the 1997 racist attack of 13-year-old Lenard Clark. Yohance Lacour is a complex narrator – at the time of the attack he loved literature and was a rookie journalist, but was also dealing weed, then heroin. Eventually he got a much longer...Read full review »

Amazing storytelling, and backed up by thorough research including speaking with folks who were actually involved back in the day. The end leaves me wanting more true stories from Mr. Lacour. I sense he has much, much more to tell and I want to hear it.

Insightful, honest, authentic. Artfully crafted, allowing me to see the subtleties of Chicago society through the lens of a single grotesque event from 1997. It tracks the author’s gnawing reactions to it and his efforts to arrive at a meaningful resolution to it on a personal and societal level....Read full review »

Your story is no different than hundreds of others. I grew up white in the Bronx, little Catholic school girl, clueless of color.
