“I wish I could like this podcast. I have tried on numerous occasions, as the guests are some of my favorite comedians, Chelsea Peretti, Demetri Martin, Nick Kroll, Kumail...etc. I just cannot help but feel that Pete is somewhat late to the whole entire podcasting game and he is only now using it as a means of gaining more popularity and a wider audience the way that others have.
Now in the podcast itself, it seems that Pete Holmes just cannot help but be obnoxious. And I get it, that's his personality and his comedic persona as well. But in a podcast, which really needs to be a conversational format, it gets really annoying because somehow the interviews always end up being about Pete and his own insecurities. The comment about Chelsea's popularity and internet presence being because she is a pretty girl was way uncalled for and thank God she laughed it off, but it turned me off the show, as well as the concept, which come on is paper thin at best.
If Pete Holmes can like, dial it down to a 5, and really figure out what this podcast is actually about rather than him just asking pointed questions (come on doesn't Maron do that already?) I think it could be much better.”Read full review »
