no real insight or new perspective
i could hardly get through the first two episodes for a few reasons, the primary being the totally crude way they describe childhood trauma and behavioral responses to trauma. This is not the kind of story telling we need, it offers us no true understanding, just a safe space of distance to view 'a monster.' It feels like a broadcast from the 1950s in all the worst ways. I was enjoying this until the part in episode 3 where the guy starts describing prostitutes as women who’ll do anything for you if you say the right things as if they’re stupid tools for men to play with.
