Weirdly sensationalist
Perhaps not surprising given that it’s a podcast from a group called “Hollywood and Crime” (I haven’t listened to anything else from them) but so far I’ve found this podcast a bit over the top in its delivery. It is an interesting topic and the two different story lines of Manson’s life makes for an excellent presentation of the tale. However the telling of the story is so dramatically overdone that it seems to distract from the facts. The narrators are constantly telling us what the players are thinking or offering their motivations for what they do, without providing any actual evidence for this. They tell ya the story without the facts rather than letting the facts tell us the story. There are very few direct quotations and it leaves me constantly wondering “how do you know that’s why he did that? Or how do you know those thought processes?” I’ll keep listening to see if it improves and because it is an interesting topic.

This is not the kind of story telling we need, it offers us no true understanding, just a safe space of distance to view...Read full review »
