The music is just too much….
I love these podcasts, but the long stretches where you let a song play on for 5 or 10 minutes are very difficult to listen to. The information would be easier to process if you just let your speakers words carry those sections and lose the music. These monologues are interesting enough on their own that you should leave them be. At the very least, please just avoid super intense and dramatic string scoring (like in 'washington' starting around 53:00 and lasting for nearly 20 minutes…) and stick more to the ambient sounds in 'washington' at 1:50:00) Please consider that most listeners are using headphones, which is a much more intimate experience than listening on speakers. I think part of the reason your scoring is so distracting is because it feel like I'm listening to two different things at once; it's as if i'm listening to my favorite college professor, and there's a string quartet practicing in the hallway.Read full review »
