A refreshingly honest podcast that brings something new every time
For a music fan of any genre that tends to linger amongst the independent scene, Ray's show should undoubtedly be your first port of call. I use refreshing in the title because so much music journalism these days has an agenda or is seeking an angle that will 'sell', but Ray lets these appropriately long conversations flow at their own pace, allowing guests to feel more comfortable and ultimately provide a better interview because of it. It is also great to see that usual questions (record promotions, upcoming tours etc) are never the focus of the podcast, but rather just discussing what life is like playing music for each of these individuals and dispelling any myths around that. It leaves you with much more of an impression of how the differing music scenes function, which is interesting in that I am an Australian listener and can discover the differences between our approaches to music and the community itself. Long story short, this is a great show. Subscribe, check out older episodes (the year end top 10 ones are GREAT and I've found alot of new music through them), he gets a diverse range of compelling guest every week and it is always something I look forward to. Support this superb journalism.Read full review »

It had my attention for the full hour - surprisingly since I get distracted pretty easily. But the conversation between Jon and Ray flowed so smoothly. And all the topics they talked...Read full review »
